Many countries outside the EUEuropean Union, the USA, Canada and Australia have begun the process of developing the CCSCarbon dioxide Capture and Storage strategy and national regulation frameworks. Various countries have achieved different levels of advancement. However, very few of the non-EUEuropean Union jurisdictions have taken steps to integrate wider environmental matters into their respective regulatory frameworks. At this stage, issues concerning measurement, monitoringMeasurement and surveillance activities necessary for ensuring safe and reliable operation of a CGS project (storage integrity), and for estimating emission reductions and verification(CO2 storage) The proof, to a standard still to be decided, of the CO2 storage using monitoring results; (in the context of CDM) The independent review by a designated operational entity of monitored reductions in anthropogenic emissions processes are not comprehensively addressed in national regulatory regimes in other parts of the world (Norway being one exception). International Energy Agency and Baker and McKenzie are reporting about the progress in the wider CCSCarbon dioxide Capture and Storage area worldwide on the yearly basis (IEAInternational Energy Agency, 2012; Baker and McKenzie, 2011).
